There looks to be quite a special show coming up at the Clapham Grand on Friday October 21^st.  Soul powerhouse Leela James, alongside UK soul legend, with the same dreads from 1988, Omar and up-and-coming sweet soul diva Bonnie Freechyld.

What makes this show exciting is how all three of these acts bring something very very different musically.  Seeing Leela James sing is like watching a nuclear explosion, she has vigour, force and a stage presence that is next to none.   Her voice is relentlessly powerful and it just grabs you as her superfly afro shots all around the stage.  Over and above the voice it is great watching someone with so much stage presence too, her shows make for a great visual and sonic treat.

Omar needs no introduction.  How he has managed to keep the exact same hair cat for 20 odd years is an astounding feat in itself.  Seeing that alone is worth catching him in concert.  Bonnie Freechyld has just come back from a stint Stateside and her start keeps rising.  Continuously honing her live shows it is a chance to see a glimpse of the future of the UK soul scene.  Definitely one of the UK’s best kept soul secrets at the moment.

Throw in a host of other special guests and you should have a great celebration of soul; past, present and future.
