Dice Raw – Welcome Home

A few weeks ago Questlove released a mixtape featuring classic songs by the late J. Dilla performed by The Roots.  It was only a matter of time before someone decided to step up and rock them and who better than long time Roots collaborator Dice Raw.

Welcome Home is probably my favourite from the mixtape Pregunta, it has the chilled out Philadelphia Hip-Hop sound that become synonymous with the Backpackers movements not too long out.

Uber laid back and oozing coolness… during the first verse he gripes, “Hip Hop’s f**ked up / OK already / I hear ya!”  If songs like this keep dropping then hip hop may just be on the road to recovery… then again I always have been a bit of a dreamer!
