It turns out I need to find a new favourite unsigned artist because while I was away in the Philippines Ed Sheeran got his reward and was signed; faith restored in the music business.  He has penned a 6 album contract with Atlantic imprint Asylum (and even received a call from Elton John to congratulate him).

Being a man that does not know how to stop working, Ed is already working on his debut album.  Facebook and Twitter updates suggest it should be even better than his legendary EPs as the label are pretty much giving him full creative freedom.

Just want to say massive congratulations to him and his team.  I look forward to hearing music those big boy label dollars can create; Big Ups – no unsigned artist in the country deserved it more.
