I think I am still breathless. The Lovebox Saturday line-up for 2011 is sensational.
I have long been a fan of hip-hop, and the West Coast in the mid-nineties was the place for hip-hop. Well Lovebox are throwing a revival with Snoop Dogg performing, in its entirety, his debut album Doggsytle! Apparently, this has not been done since 1993; one of the most seminal albums in hip-hop history live, with his full band!
I hear you cry “yeah, Snoop is only one man, there were loads of featured artists on Doggystyle!” Don’t fear, Warren G, RBX, Kurupt, Lady Rage and Daz Dillinger are also on the bill! Doggystyle in full (with the exception of Nate Dogg).
This is not a one act line-up though. We also have two of the brightest rising stars in the UK music scene in Maverick Sabre and Katy B performing too. Add to that the Hospitality stage with High Contrast, Shy Fx, David Rodigan and a lot more. Saturday is looking incredibly tasty.
Oh and I almost forgot, The Drums are playing too! I wanna go surfing, kiss a homeless man, and straddle a dolphin right now!
Tickets are £53 all in and available from the usual places. Well worth it for such a stellar line-up. Remember, last year Snoop Dogg played Shepherd’s Bush Empire and tickets were in excess of £50. Then, he was not playing Doggystle and did not have all the supporting cast either!
The joke is, this line-up is only going to get better. Last year Groove Armada and co. announced Jay Electronica the two days before, so who knows what other surprises are in store.
