Another day, more bananas to get through. However, bananas weren’t my only problem this morning as I had a few odds and ends to use up before hitting the supermarket this afternoon (or more likely tomorrow morning). I took the odds and ends I had in the fridge and decided to blitz them together.
Something that has surprised me the last few days is how spinach as become one of my go to ingredients. Granted, I had a lot to use up, however I am glad I had enough left and was able to pop some in the drink today. It’s healthy, and also (from the times I’ve used it anyway) it doesn’t seem to have an overpowering flavour. Bananas could learn a lot from Spinach.
I also go inspired by the boxes of herbal tea which felt like they were staring at me while I was making this one hence the additions of honey, lemon and ginger.
Ingredients – all approximate
- 1 ripe banana
- A handful of Spinach
- Half an avocado
- Lemon juice – I squeezed a half a lemon
- c. 100ml Apple juice
- A bit of fresh ginger
- A teaspoon of honey (as mentioned previously I use manuka, sure any honey will do though)
- 6ish ice-cubes
Method
First you take you the banana cut in to 2cm pieces, being careful not to… only joking throw it all in a blender and mix it up till smooth.
I left the level of ginger a bit ambiguous because I think I put a bit too much in this morning and the flavour did over power the other ingredients a little; I like the flavour of ginger so didn’t mind. Also, strangely enough I think this one could have done with a bit more banana. When I make it again I will put 2 bananas in and see what happens!
