Food: Berry Tea Smoothie

Frozen fruit is now a part of my life.  I never really thought about it before, but it makes complete sense because it’ll last a hell of  lot longer than my punnet of fresh fruit.  It is discoveries like this which remind me I am still a smoothie novice!

Following Sunday’s adventure with honey, lemon and ginger, I was intrigued to know what it would taste like to mix tea in to smoothie instead of juice.  The result is a decent drink and tea adds a nice, mature flavour.  I would recommend brewing the tea strong to make sure it cuts through the other flavours.

Ingredients

  • c. 200ml Winter Spice Tea (this is what I had in the cupboard.  I am sure any berry based tea will be fine and mix in some cinnamon to give it the “spice” feeling).
  • Big handful of frozen raspberries
  • Big handful of frozen blackberries
  • 1 Banana
  • Tablespoon Raspberry Yoghurt
  • 4ish ice-cubes

Method

Brew a cup of herbal tea for a 3-4 minutes, you want it nice a strongly brewed.  Then allow the tea to cool down.  Once the tea has cooled put all the ingredients together in the blender and then mix it up until smooth.  Pour into a mug a serve as it’d be rude to drink tea from a glass 🙂
