There is something infectious and exciting about seeing a band towards the start of their journey. The way they perform. The way they enjoy each and every cheer from the audience no matter the size. The way in which they appear to be grateful for every single opportunity. The way they hang around after a show talking to the few people left standing with a genuine interest to get to know their fans. This was on full display last night as The Heirs played for the first time in San Francisco.
The Heirs are a brother/sister duo from Florida and are by no means complete newcomers. They were introduced to the world as Brandon & Savannah on America’s Got Talent in 2013. More recently, they spent much of 2014/15 touring with Melanie Martinez under their new band name, The Heirs. Even with all the experience on the big stage they still had that endearing spark of optimism.
It was a fun set, full of danceable indie-pop and even a Kanye West cover thrown in for good measure. They had an aura of joy as they performed; soaking up all the positive energy in the room and returning it back in the way of a lost smile or and extra bounce in their step.
I wish them all the best on their musical journey and hope they get as much success as their talents clearly deserve. I also hope they visit San Francisco regularly on that journey!

Ps. Given the hangover I ‘enjoyed’ this morning I have no idea how I managed to even function my little pocked camera. Thought I’d share some shots regardless.
